mui Lab was founded in 2017 as an in-house venture of NISSHA Co., Ltd. and became an independent startup in 2019 through a management buyout (MBO). With the mission of \u201cCreating a rich life and society where people, nature, and technology coexist in calm harmony,\u201d the company delivers \u201ccalm technology\u201d \u2014 gentle, unobtrusive information technology \u2014 to the smart home sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Its main products include the \u201cmui Board,\u201d a smart display made from natural wood; \u201cmui Life OS,\u201d an IoT platform; and the \u201cLife App\u201d smart home application. mui Lab has collaborated with major companies such as Hokkaido Gas, Mitsubishi Estate, Odakyu Real Estate, and Shizuoka Gas. The company currently has 35 employees and operates from its headquarters in Kyoto, with additional offices in Tokyo and Nagano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In August 2025, the company completed the first close of its Series B funding round through a third-party allotment of shares, with KCAP Venture No.1 Fund as the lead investor, joined by Shizuoka Gas, Miyako Capital, and Resona IPO Fund.
